Snowfall Forces Shutdown Of ABC Till April

Continuous snowfall for almost a fortnight since last week of February has forced a shutdown of Annapurna Base Camp Area till the first week of April.

The hazardous snowfall brought down 4 hotels in ABC area forcing immediate rescue of tourists residing in various hotels. Annapurna Century Lodge, Hotel Snowland, Annapurna Guest House and Paradise Garden are among the 4 hotels that were brought down after heavy snow buried them, Jau Bahadur Gurung, a local hotel operator informed. Gurung also informed that the hotel's operators are somehow managing to bring back tourism to ABC area by coming April.

This year saw massive snowfall throughout the nation even in March month. Snowfall hasn’t stopped yet due to which tourists are prohibited from entering the ABC area. ABC area has been one of the most popular and visited tourism site of Nepal in recent times.

Yubaraj Kunwar, Chairman of Annapurna Rural Municipality informed that the tourists are barred in the area as there is no food and lodging provision due to snowfall. Snow up to 10 feet have piled in the way affecting any form of transportation.
